I did the swap

I put a 5.0 HO in my 90 f150 2wd. It took a couple day for the computer to relearn stuff. It had problems idling and no power off idle. I adjusted the timing from the stock recommended 10 degrees BTDC to about 12 but I still find that I have no low end power and my fuel mileage is kind of bad. I am wondering what you guys have your timing set at. I have no idea what rear end I have in my truck and that may be part of my low end problem however I know that my old motor could smoke the tires even when it was really tired. This motor won't even do that. Once it revs over 2500 rpm then it has gobs of power. any suggestions?

thanks guys
Robert

I did the swap

Try 14 degrees with the spout disconected, i also did this swap in my 86 F-150 302 injected and to me it seemed to have the same amount of power as the original truck mill that i broke the crank in, the motor was out of a 88 mark vii, i wonder if there is a difference in cams between the truck mills and the car mills, i always ran @ 14 degrees btdc tho
