Again, that's exactly what I was thinking (including keeping the box). 1st thing I did was role down the back right window to hear the turbo. Like you said, not much difference there. But it does sound cool when you let off and you get that pressure release sound. My airbox/battery tray is one solid peace so I left it in and put the cover back over the battery. The filter fit right in the tray. Actually the nose end of it kind of hooked right it one of the grooves of the tray.

I tossed mine thinking I didn't really need it. The filter is right there to see when you open the hood. And you're welcome.

I didn't really look so this is kind of a non exhausted effort question, but where do I disconect the Filter Minder wiring? Right now I just have a bare plug zip tide to a brake line. Or actually, I still have warranty work to consider so should I rap the connector in electrical tape to to prevent moister causing a short? Thanks.

Hmmmm. Mine didn't have any wiring going to it. It was just a small plastic cylinder with a reset button on the end of it. How about drill a hole in the rubber boot just the right size to accept the filter minder and install it there. Maybe with some glue to make sure it stays.

Well I considered that but me being me, I could picture that inside piece coming loose and being sucked through the turbo. The stock version of this thing puts the filter minder above the filter so that's not possibility.

I just did an '02 and his had the sensor on the filter minder, we just left the filter minder on the plug and ziptied it together with the IAT sensor. he wanted to do the whole drill the end and put it in there, but I had to totaly cover his stock air box intake hole to show him that it takes ALOT of vacume to get those things to even move, so we just left it there, for the same reason, help prevent corrosion from all this MN salt.

Believe me I don't trust that filter minder. I'm just trying to preserve original product. My father has a 99 F350 PSD in the dusty NM mountains and he says he notices his truck starts to run rough, checks the filter, and it's looks horrible. Guess what, that filter minder has barely moved.

Last evening I let the truck warm up and noticed it didn't idle as high as before. Should I attempt to zip tie it closer to the element and further toward the driver side fender to block it from engine heat now that it's not inside a plastic air box? Or is this just an effect of the mod? Thanks again.

hey orezona, the last couple of days here the temp has been about 32-27 degrees and mine has idled high, it was around 1000rpm in the morning. i tied mine fairly close to the brake line, but a little closer to the fender well, there were a couple of wires there that i zip tied to. i know that the idle thing fluctuates depending on how cold it out is, if it is say 35 out it will idle around 800-900. so maybe it wasnt quite cold enough out, just a quess though. hope this helps (probably not) . but that is what is happening with mine.

Hmmm, my high idle behavior was unchanged. It will idle at 1100 with a cold engine at any temperature below 50 degrees or so. Above that and it slows down. Sometimes it will only raise itself what seems like 50 RPM if it's around 65 degrees out. Just slightly but you can tell it slows back down when you tap on the brake pedal.

Well you know it might have been a little warmer than normal yesterday. And a coincidence with the new filter. I'll keep monitoring the high idle.
