I feel you Ryan. I'm concidering selling my nice truck cause of the cost of gas. Figure getting a Taurus would be much smarter move anyways, insurance too. Plus, why do I need two trucks? ^_^ It'll make getting my mud truck easier too. Still...its hard to deal withactually parting with my baby....
...anyone else look at their old truck pictures lately...
I don't have any pictures of what my truck looked like originally You guys are lucky, I can only remember what my truck looked like when I bought it. Rust and faded Burgundy. I may not have the lifts and tires you guys do, but I know what you mean by out growing it. Having a standard cab-long bed in Highschool, it was the biggest truck in the lot. Now, it seems small, especially next too the new 1 tons. And inside the cab, don't get me started! 3 semesters worth of books, work clothes, a tool box, lunch containers, old truck parts, . . . its a wonder I can get in and drive Crewcabs look better all the time!
Yeah my 81 started with no motor no drivers door, screwed tranny and t-case, and 4 flat tires, now it has a good drivetrain, getting a dana 60 and now an 8-9" lift (bumped it up since i have to redo the yokes-just using the f-350 shafts and having them shortened), damn some of you guys are evil, i orginally only wanted 4" of lift .
Acutally i got that from ivan and pro after seeing how simple it is to get lots-o-chepo lift thats very strong, didn't really sink in till i cut 3 of my boggers going through an extremely rough pit.
Its the motor part that he's got me going in right now, i already have 2 pairs of headers that i will turn into a pair of zoomies, already have the cleveland 4V heads, a dual electric fan ("s", i'm converting my flareside to an electric setup to), now i know why rob calls it evilbay (shinny stuff is addicting, no move the mouse away from bid, resist, resist resist, well i at least have to get that gleason LS through ebay and a pair of drive flanges through a vendor on pirate )
Unfortunately, you'll need to find someone who makes rims with a 63 inch bead diameter. 159 in OD, 4.5 in. tread depth. I don't think that 5 ton axles will cut it...
You 'll also have to find someone who is willing to cut out every other lug on those tires, too...the tread spacing is WAY too close together for mud bogging.
Here's some more tech:
How much lift would I need to fit 159" tires underneath my 94 F-150?
