The A/C compressor clutch on my '84 F150 (5.8L) does not cycle (turn off) since a "buddy" recharged the system. The system is a R134a retro. A/C blows as cold as Pluto, but it used to cycle approx every 8 secs prior to recharging. Does this indicate a problem? If so, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The most likely culprit is the pressure switch on the line to the evaporator. During a recharge they can get clogged with debris and not switch properly. Did your buddy evacuate and clean the system before recharge? Well, guess what, you get to do it now if you want to replace or clean the switch.
Another possibility is the compressor cannot pump-up the system enough to trigger it off. But you say she is blowing cold, so it is compressing somewhat.
Finally, the debris clogging the switch could be from the compressor rotor/seal deteriorating from using R134a. if this is the case, prepare yourself for some costly replacement parts.
