found a better way, return the wrench to pep boys!, i used a 1/2 socket (1/4in drive)\
with a 1/4 unvrsal joint and 3/8 to 1/4 adapter with an 3/8 rachet and extension
FYI, if you wrench often enough then the distributer wrench is a quick convience. As I help out at a garage, I picked up a set of six off evilbay for $20. Since I plan on building a hot rod (as soon as I can figure out what) they were a future investment.
Dedicated tool for the job.
I've had one in the toolbox for more than 30 years.
Hint: Get an old 1/2" box end wrench. Put it in a vise and heat it up (cherry red), then bend it. Let it cool SLOWLY. You've already ruined the temper of the metal. You don't want it to become brittle.
I doug through Dad's work bench and found a Ford distributor wrench I made 30+ years ago for a Bullnose I owned at the time. I can't remember what year the truck was. I'm going to need that wrench for my new to me '83...
