Just bought an 89 ford E150 van for the injected 300 six. What are the differences between this engine and a 70's carburated 300; roller cam, main seal, balancing? Putting this engine with a megasquirt controller in a 70 F100 2wd. Don't want any surprizes when I try to bolt up motor mounts, old flywheel, etc. Thanks.
Dustin
the clutch pivot bolt holes changed a few times over the years. 2 bolt, 3 bolt and bellhousing mount. so make sure you have a correct bracket for the engine your putting in.
An EFI engine bolted right in to my 79, all I had to do was pull the sepentine balancer off and use the older brackets carb intake and a single vaccuum distributor.
No roller cam, they all are internal balance. EFI heads have 17 bolt holeson the manifold side. the heads also have heart shaped chambers and low compression pistons (overall a little higher compression). some early (87-early 88) EFI engines use cast iron 302 rocker arms
How would a 302 rocker work in a 300? A 302 rocker bolted to a 300 head won't even reach the valves. Unless the valve locations were drastically different on the 87-88 heads I don't think that works.
