Oiling your compressor

I bought this 89 bronco 3 months ago. The owner said the AC dosn't work, but he really never looked into it. Last night I found the (I don't know what it is called) the thing that snaps to the pully when the compressor kicks on and it starts turning the compressor. It was laying on the frame near the engine mount. I put it on and stuck a screw in the center to hold it on. I turned the AC on and the darn thing started cooling and running. It was kicking on and off to much like it needed a little bit of a charge. Then after I watched it run for a few seconds the compressor started squeeling so I shut it off. What shoud I do next. It sounds to me like the compressor needs some oil and a shot of freon. What do you all suggest I do to salvage this AC that I don't think has run in a couple of years?

Thanks

if there is any freon in your system there should be oil as well, check the clutch see what kind of shape its in, but it is probably the compressor. remember to change the dryer if you change the compressor
