A/C disconnect

I have a 1977 F-250 with factory air. It needs to be charged but I don't want to do it until next spring. Will it hurt the A/C if I take the belt off of the compressor? The compressor is making a little noise, and since I don't need to use it for a while, I would like to remove the squeaking sound it is causing. Is there a way to lube the compressor as well to eliminate the squeaking?
Thanks for any input,
Dett

The compressor is lubed internally by oil in the freon. The noise you hear may be just a noisy clutch. No harm would come by bypassing the compressor. Just go get a belt for your vehicle without A/C.

I really wouldn't disconnect the compressor. Long periods of non-use can allow it to sieze.

It will not hurt to take the belt off the compessor. The noise maybe the clutch or pully going bad
