thanks for the help!
i used the mounts from a 78 2wd supercab w/460 and L&L 79750D headers. the frame was drilled correctly to accept the engine support brackets and the PO had installed a 351M w/C6 so the tranny bolted up and its crossmember did not have to be moved. once i had the engine in far enough so the headers would clear the crossmember, i installed them loosely with only the front bolt so they could be moved/rotated as the engine was moved rearward and lowered. the headers touch the frame on the right side but a cutting torch will clean up that minor problem. i used a rear sump pan from the same 78 truck and have plenty of clearance between the pan and crossmember.
next minor problem will be acc's. i will only be driving the water pump, alternator and power steering pump. i have 2 crankshaft pulleys, one from a 70 lincoln and one from the 78 supercab. the alternator bracket from the 70 lincoln looks like it will work and i found a saginaw ps pump bracket which will mount to the 460 but i am not sure how the belts run. if anyone has a solution to the front dress issue, i would appreciate your input.
thanks again, cheers, garsten
