460 build

I am building a 460 for my 79 250 4x4. I have 2 engines to choose from for the rebuild. Should I use the D9TE block or the D1VE that I have. I also have the d2VE heads and the D3VE heads, which ones would you recommend . Thanks Don

The only difference between the blocks is that the cylinders on the D9 block are .250 longer at the bottom. What crankshaft you use might determine witch one you need to use. You can't put pre '79 crank in a D9 block because the couterwieghts will hit the block. But you can use any crankshaft in the D1 block.

Use the D3 heads. The D2's detonate bad because of the chamber design.
