Tailpipe Removal

Hey Guys, is it hard to cut the welds that attach the muffler to the tailpipe? Right now I have a single in/dual out flow 40. I looked under the truck and it seems as if I paid for a pretty bad welding job. They already look rusty. Anyways, I was going to try and chop the tailpipes off right after the muffler just by cutting the weld. What do I need to do this?

Sawz-all, torch, hack saw, pipe cutter?? Sure the welds will rust if it's just plain welding rod or wire.

if your not replacing the pipe make sure that the rest of the exhaust is supported well.

I got under the truck last night to check that very thing. The muffler is supported by one hanger. There is a bracket for another hanger, the hanger would just need to be welded onto the muffler. Would one bracket be enough to support it?

exhaust pipe cutting

Use a chain roller cutter. Make sure your square and all cutters are in the same track. Plan "B" is your handy Sawzall with a fresh blade in fine tooth with good safety glasses.
