transmission/clutch interchangeability
i have a '79 F-150 with the 300 and a SROD...the SROD is noisy in all gears except 3rd (because it's 1:1, i figure) and it's got to go. i have available to me a 3sp manual from a '77 and i'm pretty sure it will fit in exactly. am i right, or is there something i don't know? i figure all the transmissions from this period that would fit this truck will have the 10 spline input and 28 spline output...right? also, are the clutch and throwout bearing the same between '77 and '79? i'd prefer not to mess it up...

The clutch spline is the same and I'm pretty sure that Ford did'nt change the throw out bearing. The only thing that might be different would be the pilot bushing But this would be easy to remedy because the correct bushing should be readly available and cheap.
