I'm in the process of constructing an ecommerce site (non-automotive/truck related) and researching software for the backend. After reading the fine print from some of the vendors out there, purusing user groups and trying some of the software, I can tell you that some of those companies make sleazy used car dealers look like paragons of industry.
Can anyone offer suggestions for integrated shopping cart/shipping calculations/merchant account gateway compatible software that doesn't require a doctorate in code writing (they seem to throw a lot of this stuff over the fence for quality control purposes) and actually works without a very expensive support package from the vendor?
