I have a '00 X w/ V10. The other day I pulled out of the driveway and started down the road. I hadn't gone 100 feet and the engine just quit . No missfire or warning, just like someone flipped a switch . I coasted to the side of the road , switched the key to off and looked things over. Nothing unusual under the hood or on the dash. I climbed back in and it started right up and has run fine since. Any ideas?
I had a similar problem. My X would start and then stop. It initially started idling rougher and then got to the point of having to drive with foot on gas peddle to force it to "idle". I was told to replace the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) on the intake. I took it off and it was gunked up with soot. I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and replaced it. It ran just fine afterwards and I improved the gas mileage. The problem started at about 90,000 miles. It only took about 1 hour to pull it off, clean it, and re-install. Saved about $200 between part and labor.
