Anyone got a 05 XL work truck. I am getting one and would like to know how you like it. I had a personal 99 F-150 and now have a 04 F-250 6.0. Just curious.
I have a '05 XL with the 4.2 V6, 4 speed AOD. I dig it lots. I had a few other trucks in the past. '67 1/2 ton dodge truck, '71 1 ton Dodge crew/'8 bed, '72 F250 standard cab, '89 F150 4X4 XLT/Lariat 5.0/AOD. So far I am really really digin this truck alot!
vwman, Are you aware that vinyl seats are a no cost option with the work truck group option? They are stitched identically to the leather seats in a Lariat and use the same perforated-look vinyl insert as the leather FX4 seats. Extra cost on basic XL, not available on any other trim levels. They are quite beautiful and much more durable than the cloth seats. I test drove a few work trucks when I was first looking, and liked them alot. There is something attractive about the simplicity and ruggedness of a basic no nonsense work truck. The way all trucks used to be. Black vinyl floor, vinyl seats and crank windows. Retro cool! Good luck on your search for the one ordered just right.
Yes, I agree with rougeriver. The look of the basic XL is GREAT!Also, not as many electonics to go bad.I still think a nice set of rims look great on the XL.Good Luck!
Look up the Work truck option thread on this forum. I had similar questions before I bought mine. Other than fighting with the dealership over my tow hitch they missed, I have loved my new truck. Only 500 miles on it right now. For some reason Ford threw in cloth seats for free. I wish they hadn't.
