Engine surge?

Okay, I can not seem to figure out what is going on with my 88 Bronco. Most of the time when I am driving the engine will surge. It does not do it at idle though. You know when you turn your A/C on while driving, it makes the engine lug a little because it takes power, well that is what my engine does but it goes off and on, over and over. I have code 41, and it has to do with the engine running lean. I replaced my TPS, Cleaned and tested my IAC, MAP, and I replaced the fuel filter. I have also checked the plugs and wires which are all farely new. The fuel pressure regulator is only about 8 months old so I don't think it could be that. Does anyone have any ideas, or has this problem haunted you too? Thanks!

Surging while runnung

I had that problem, and it was my E.G.O. sensor(Exhaust gas oxygen) sensor, but I only had one, some have 2 or more. Might help. Cricket11

Same problem, turned out to be the bearings on the TB plate shaft

Bearings on a Throttle Body Shaft? Never heard of that. Where on the TB are they located?

this is what the ford guy told me, the butterfly is mounted to a shaft at the ends of the shaft there are bearings, I believe the bottom is conected to the TBS if the bearings are bad it will cause the butterfly to move causing engine surge, also looking for new TB they all state that they have sealed bearings, is this a upgrade from a factory TB I don't know, I have another post in here trying to find out what different symtoms might there be for this surging problem.

I had the same problem on my 90' I tried everything under the sun. Finally it ended being the fuel strainer on the fuel pump inside the tank. Just a thought...

ya I had that problem once, with the sock on the sending unit in the tank, it was on my 78' F-250 (the green mile) but it was of a loss of power at highway speeds, when I got up to 60 mph or so the engine would just bogg down and I would have to pull over and wait a couple min. and then I was good for another mile, that got real old real fast, luckilly on a 78' I was able to isolate the problem pretty fast, I dissconnected the fuel line after the fuel pump and ran it to a 5 gal can in the back of the truck, it ran great that way till I was able to drop the tank and change the sock.

Well, I took off my upper manifold and pulled my fuel rail off. I took out all of my injectors and let them soak in cleaner for an hour. I also replaced my fuel pressure regulator. The problem is gone now!
