A friend of mine needs some help. I thought I read a post here about rusted oil pans on the 300 I6? It seems his pan is rusting from the outside in and its already leaking oil in spots. Dealer doesn't want to warranty this. I know I read something about that here? Wasn't there a post on this? His truck is a 94 F150.
Seems there were several posts some time ago. I don't recall any of the rusty oil pan posts mentioning getting warranty replacement. I would try a search of this forum and the inline six forum. But if the pan is so rusted that it already is leaking, then I don't see much choice but to replace it.
saw this in a few broncos and f 150's, etc..never heard of ford compensating anyone yet or any recalls. In fact, never saw a tsb on it. If anyone knows of a tsb, pls post.
But reg inspections and a coating of good primer and hi temp paint helps ward this off.
Some have patched their pan leaks w/hi temp epoxy
If you replace the pan with one sourced form a junkyard, look for one from an early 80's truck that's painted blue, the grey ones have crappy paint and are made lighter. The ones with the dipstick mounted to the pan are the good solid blue ones, don't know if they mad dipstick less pans. If you do end up with 2 dipsticks, pull the one in the block and plug it's hole with a bolt.

Looks like my friend has purchased a new oil pan from the Ford Dealer.
If anyone does find a TSB on this please post it. I have come across a few I6 owners with a similar problem. It's seems the years 90 to 96 are the one's in question.
Never heard of a TSB on the oil pans, but, it isn't the 300's alone that are rotting out, I know of quite a few 302's that have had their pans replaced. And, it isn't just those newer trucks either, the engine in my truck is an 84, and it's pan is starting to rot out.

I have a 95 f150 with a 351. I talked to a guy at a quick oil change place and he said that he sees a lot of ford trucks with this problem. A friend has a 302 with the leaky pan. Has anyone had any luck with Ford fixing at their cost? My truck has only 31k. miles. But is obviously out of warranty due to time.
