I have seen the swap for a mustang gas tank in between the rear framerails but I don't plan on going that route because I don't want to mess with the frame rails and cutting the bed etc. Has anybody done a fuel cell in the bed? Where did you find one to wire up with ford gauges? I have seen plenty of chevy stuff but not any ford. Thanks for the help.
Some here have installed the original tank in the bed (moves the filler to the right side) and covered it with a piece of sheet metal. I have seen a few of these at the Ford Nats and they looked pretty good and should not cost big bucks.
I have done this on a 77 Pro-street F-100 I got were I hated it in the bed so
I mounted it in under the bed at the back one small gas cap in the bed.
Ok for the gas gauge I gutted the dash custer and installed autometer gauges
so no gas gauge, BUT! I installed a small round alloy tank in the drivers corner
of the bed , with a silenoid from a ford van . You run out of gas on the rear
tank flip a switch pop it in ( N ) GEAR pat the gas petal about two times and
you are back to going!
P.S. One night leaving the drag races 40 miles from my house we were coming
up this steep moutain at about 1:00 am an wanting to get home and not stop
for gas the old TK skipped a little flip a switch you drive on home!
