I know this probably sounds like a stupid question, but I'm asking it anyway. I've got an '01 F350 CC V10. It's got 50K miles and I bought the truck with 28K on it. I'm just trying to do some regular preventive maintenance and want to replace the fuel filter before the camping season begins and I do a lot of towing.
I've done a search and found numerous references to new filters being installed, but none with any instructions. I'm sure it's just some type of inline filter that can be swapped out in a few minutes but I want to make sure.
Does anyone have any pictures of its location? How much is a fuel filter?
It is located on the drivers side frame rail. It is a easy job to do once you have the removal tool. You cannot take the filter out without the tool. The tool cost $10 or less at any parts store. I just baught a fuel filter at the dealer and it cost $35. I tried autozone and the part # listed was not even close to the original filter. The dealer was just down the road so I went there instead of trecking to NAPA

I called Auto Zone and they gave me part number FF745 and told me it was $7.99. Is this the same part number?
Is that then number for the filter or the tool? Off hand I dont remember the filters part number but the price of it was under $10. A real piece of crap they showed me. I would try NAPA. I am sure the dealer gave it to me dry for $35. All of my other trucks, the filters were $20+
