Fuel Filter Torque

Just purchased a new to me 2000 F250 with the 7.3. It has 124000 and runs great. I changed the oil, oil filter and fuel filter. The problem I'm having is after about 250 miles or so the fuel filter wants to back off and I get diesel fuel spraying inside my hood. The first time it happened I could smell the diesel at a stop sign. When I got home I soaked up about two quarts of diesel off the manafold with some rags. I figured I'd overtightned the fuel filter, so I took it off and then just hand tightned it as far as it would go. Then just last night I noticed I could smell diesel again inside the cab and when I opened the hood waalaa a small stream was shooting out. I've already decided to purchase a new filter but want to know how tight it should be installed. Any torque numbers know or is it like the oil filter, hand tight plus half a turn. The filter I put on was not a motorcraft, it came from autozone. Next one will be motorcraft.

Thanks in advance.

Check to be sure that there's an o-ring around the lid and throw a little fresh diesel around the seal. Torque should be no more than 20lb/ft iirc. Purolator F55055 filter works pretty well also and has built in lid with oring runs about 20 bucks
