Starting problems strange........
It starts right up when you barley turn the key in the morning.
Its runs for 10 seconds or so then quits.
Then its real hard to get it to start again.
But the first time you barley turn the key and its running great?
Anyone got any ideas?
In basic essence the fuel system is a sealed circuit, any air intrusion allows the fuel to drain down from the highest area the filter, it then flows back to the tank selected. When you start it runs on the fuel in the IP, then air enters the IP and it stalls. You crank and the fuel is pumped back into the system/filter/IP and it starts.
The air leak can be at any connection from lift pump to IP, also the fuel return lines on the injectors. If the RTlines are old and accidently disturbed they will leak 99% of the time and allow air into the system via the filter or the IP.
There is a return line on the filter clamp it off with vice grips gently for a day or two see if that fixes it. Check out Dieselmann's web page too IDI filter leaks.
One other thing if you have a driveway with a slope park with the nose down hill see if that makes a difference.
