I can now drive my truck with confidence. And I mean to a point where after owning it for 13 yrs, I can honestly say it's what I've longed for. To appreciate what I'm talking about, you have to understand what transistion it's gone through. It went from a 5.0 speed density driven, E4OD power robin' slug with 355:1's to a down right beast. The race prepped 351W is pushing a built AOD through 4.10's with impressive results...thus 1900rpm at 65MPH on 33x12.50s yeilds 13MPG city 17MPG highway. Gas mileage may not be much to brag about, but that's with my foot in it. I love smoking those import cars and moderate racers with a 6500lb boat. Ive got 91 Mustang coupe that's putting down 350 hp/400tq and the truck is as much fun to drive as it is. Here's a list of some of the mods:
Engine
1974 351W block bored .040 over (359ci) & blue printed
Speed Pro forged pistons & moly rings
Edelbrock 60379 alum heads
FRPP 1.6 roller rockers
Edelbrock HP truck cam/lifter kit
SVO double roller timing chain
351 EFI lower intake port-matched to a 5.0L truck upper
MASS air conversion, Mustang EEC, 73MM C&L MAF, K&N cold air kit
BBK headers, 3" cat, custom 2.5" exhaust through glass pack/duals
Sounds sweet. What year is it? I've got a 92 SWB 302 4X4 E4OD that I'm soon to be doing the same to except that I'll be using a 1977 block, the same trans (beefed a little) and will have a Holly 670 Avenger breathing through a Weiand stealth and Ford Racing SS headers. The bore is only .030 over with KB forged pistons and a Comp cam with double roller chain & roller rockers setting atop World Racing "Windsor" c.i heads.
I'm hoping for about 350 hp and will look forward to challenging a Ram Hemi.
For the time being I'll be running a 3.55:1 gear with 33x10.50x15's. With the 5.0, I get 14-18 mpg, so I'd say your doing pretty good too. Can't wait to get started as soon as this Mich. weather warms a little.
Good Luck, Howard
