Check engine light question?
I have a 1996 Ranger 2.3l 4cyl with 64k.
The other day the check engine light came on. I went to Advance Auto and they tested it for me and came up with this code (dtc p1443/ evap emission/ control system/ cntrl valve malf)
Although they were able to get the code they could not find it in the code book and therefore could not tell me what the problem was?
Does anyone know or could any one tell me how to find out?
Is there a special repair code book specifically for Fords?
The only noticable difference with the truck since the light came on, is that it idles a bit high and somewhat erratic. Runs good though.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks alot for the quick reply Rockledge, the threads that you posted were very helpful. I am sure that this is the same problem that I am having and feel confident that I can fix it. This forum has always been helpful and informative.
