Helper springs vs Air bags

I'm contenplating adding one of the two types of helper springs to the rear of my 01 F250 4x4 to assist in leveling out my truck when pulling my 30' 5th wheel. My toy hauler has gvwr 9,900 lbs and when loaded my truck sags a little in the rear end. I have been looking at a superspring or an airbag to help with sagging but would like to hear from people who have either styles and whether they have encountered and problems with insatlling them or since they have been using them. I'm also interested in hearing opinions about either style.

I've used air bags over the rear springs of my '95 F-250 since it was new. They work well and have given me zero problems since installation in '96.

The biggest advantage with the air bags is that you inflate them only when needed and you can pick the inflation pressure that you need.

The air bags are the Firestone models that supposedly give 5000# of additional capacity. In reality, no load carrying capacity is added, you just get the ability to level the truck bed regardless of the load you have in it.

Lou is right. When you need it, they are there, when you don't you can let the air out. You won't have to endure a harsh ride 100% of the time. Air bags also allow you to adjust the air for the needed support based on load. You can't do that with a helper spring.

I use the Firestone air bags and they work fine, the total installation has been great. I lose no air pressure even after months.

Ditto. But the name on my is Airlift (I think there all made by Firestone)

I had them installed before I bought the 5th wheel 11,000#, I fill the bags to 80# and the truck stay level and when not pulling 10#. Very happy with them.
