Be prepared...Gold Star & Skyline are going to be a taste shock the first time you try them. They are not at all like Tex-Mex chili, or any other type of chili you ever had. They're sweet, and look more like a spaghetti sauce. White Castle sliders are different than other burgers you've had too. Some people don't like the taste of either of these if they weren't raised with them. Make sure the power windows are rolled-up and locked a couple of hours after eating the White Castles. They have a surprise after-effect.
If you pass near Cincinnati, stop and have a 'Kentucky hot brown', and pick up some Goetta at the grocery store.
Have a good trip.

I've made the trip several times thru there, although it's been a while. Go south from Vegas on 93 through Kingman, AZ. Continue on until you get to I-40. (I've travelled across the US on I-70/I-40 and I-10, and 40 is definitely the best one) I-40 will take you straight thru AZ/NM/TX/ and into OK. It is the most picturesque route- of the three- and an enjoyable drive. I-10 is desolate (to say the least) thru TX, and gas will eat you alive. Also it goes thru the longest part of TX (900 miles across, or close to it). I-70 goes thru Kansas, which is pretty when the leaves are changing, have no idea what it looks like in winter time. When I took the I-70 route, I started out on Highway 50 out of Fallon, NV ("the loneliest road in America") and the prettiest sunrise I ever saw was over the NV desert.

Hope I've helped a little, maybe one of the OH or OK chapter members can get you the rest of the way (my travels have always been to/ from Florida).

If you go to White Castle and it is your first time you better make sure the route you are taking has a lot of places to stop, you might need them, also get their cheese sticks. If you are going to go to Waffle House the tradition around where I live is to get pretty drunkered up and then have someone drive us there and see how much we can eat before someone looses thier lunch.

Well, I got back from Ohio early this morning. I had a pretty good time. I must say that Skyline was good, but not something I would crave like my friend does. Man, the White Castle smelled just like a public bathroom, but they tasted good! Ohio was a little cold, but not too bad. We went to Canton, Akron, and visited a friend in Columbus. From Vegas we took the 93 to the 40 east in Kingman until Oklahoma City, from there on we took the 44 to the 70. After Albuquerque there is no mountains, I would go crazy living in the mid-west becuase I am so used to the mountains. I think that besides Vegas, one of the most beautiful cities to see at night was St. Louis. I also thought that Tulsa and Oklahoma were nice places too. Well, I think that Ohio was nice, but I am not a lover of the cold, so Vegas is still the place for me!
