extended warranty

I have 34,500 miles in my EX and just got the post card in the mail for the ford esp plan. My factory 3/36,000 is up in April. What do you guys think, should I purchace the extended plan? Any good or bad experiances with esp? I will be towing down to disney this summer 3K miles round trip.

Warranty

Shad, Get the ford warranty. I have the ge capital extended warranty and WISH i went with the ford warranty. I have 74200 miles on my 2000 limtited 800 miles left on the extended warranty and they deny ever claim. The closer I get tot he end, the harder it is to have a part repaired. I know for a fact that the ford extended warranty is just like the 3 -36 warranty you have now...

first you have to decide what your exposure is...
or at least how you FEEL about the exposure of a potential problem you don't know if you'll have
after all it is just an insurance policy....

I chose the ford 100k warranty just cuz I just wanted to spend money at the time and got a great deal on it...
now I only have to worry about $50 or $100 deductible for just about any claim....
(but I MUST retain and show the receipts for all my maintenance... along the way anyway)

And actually shop around on the internet - u can save BIG bucks via the internet on the ford warranty...
do some research, but the best prices I heard about was from a lincoln dealer in Austin, Tx IIRC ?!?!!?

I have heard that the ford one was the way to go before. I bought this truck as a ford certified at a ford dealer and was offered extended warranty at purchace in oct. I just didnt know enough about it so I denied it at the time. I guess my thing is what can go wrong with a v-10 2wd for the next 70K miles?? Decisions decisions..........

Waranty

What can go wrong? Gee let me throw a little bit at you... auto hubs for the 4x4...How about ball joints? I had mind done at 74285 miles....actually they are being done now. I have had the hubs done twice now its about 285 per side i am guessing. The last 2 service bills for the truck have been over 1000.00 and thats been in 2 months. Last month, sway bar links, Altinator, misfire on 3 cyls. left side upper and lower ball joints....just over 1200. This time, new 4x4 hubs, right upper and lower ball joints 1050.00 time before last...all new electric lock motors...god glad I didnt see that bill... body mounts, front leaf springs...shocks where makin noise.... so my warranty has paid for itself... with the v-10 those coils can go and they are i think 150 a piece. the last list of repairs were just here and there repairs...but GET THE WARRANTY....oh yeah and I cant for get the BRAND NEW v-10 they had to install at 25500 miles. Yep I changed my oil and saw clumps of metal in the tub I was draining into...no engine noise, no loss of performance.. just chunks of metal. took the oil bucket to ford, said ugh....im not a happy camper they asked why and I said I was changin my oil and found a suprise....dump the oil and you will see....dealer came to the HOUSE because I hadnt even put the plug back in, or change the filter yet and they HAD TO SEE THIS as the service advisor said and he told me "id be damned" your tearin up... 3000 on waranty = piece of mind, money saved on repairs and spent on your wife, girl friend or kids...priceless.

warranty

Yeah you should. the cost of repairs is expensive and my warranty has paid for itself I think. Although it was difficult at times to get them to fix the parts that failed because "they could not see a failure" it was well worth the extra money.
