I'm currently trying to install a pcv valve in my 272.
Everything is pretty much ready, except for the vacuum line.
I'm using the vacuum port on the manifold, close to the carb, for the power brakes. And I don't want use a carb spacer since I'll be trying to install a different carb soon, and I believe the spacer will not work with that carb.
My intake manifold is the later ones that can accept the Motorcraft 2100 carbs.
I want to use a T on the vacuum line for the power brake booster. Would it work? Any ideas of where could I hook it up to?
Lobo, on the other Y-block website this came up recently and it was stated that it is best that the vacuum ports for the brake booster and PCV be separate. No other explanation. The stock fitting I had on the back of the manifold had a small 3/16 inch or so bore in it. Maybe by increasing that cross surface you could T into the same port.
I have a 2100 series Autolite carb with spacer, and tapped into the spacer for the PCV.
I have the carb spacer for the 2100, but I’ll be using a Weber 48 that I was given. It has an adapter plate that I don’t think would be easy to drill, since the butterflies on the Weber are far apart, and it would be impossible to drill a hole that would connect both sides at the same time… And the other problem is that the Weber is quite tall compared to the 2100. I’ve never thought I’d run into this, but hood clearance might be a problem.
I guess the problem is what you described. The line isn’t large enough to handle both at the same time…
I’ll try to find a picture of the line that I’m using, and where it’s connected on the engine.
Thank you very much for your answer.
