Red face tips on selling truck?

I just struck a deal on the 2002 Supercrew 4x4 XLT. I'm excited about it, am buying from a collegue. Now it's time for me to sell my beloved 98 Lariat Supercab. Any tips on selling via private party? I just placed my ads on classified here on the website. Also I placed ad on local classified paper, it seems to be pricey for such a plain short ad compared to cars.com or ebay motors. Have any of you sold your vehicle on ebay?

Check the laws in your state, but when I know I'm going to sell a car, I go a head and get my sig notrize on the title so all I have to do is hand it to them.

Ebay cost $80 if you sell, $40 if you don't. Not sure how great a deal that is considering it only list for 10 days. I've bought 3 trucks on ebay, and they all want a huge down payment, which I refussed to pay being that I have perfect feed back. If I were to sell on ebay I might ask for maybe $100 down. Enough to cover my cost. And show lots of daytime pics in the add. Pictures sell. Also don't have a hidden reserve price. Make you opening bid what your reserve would be.

good luck

I'm in the same boat, I just got a '00 F-250 PSD 4x4 about 4 hours ago. F-150 is now on the auction block.

I'm going to do what I did when I sold my wifes Taurus. I'm going to put my vehicle at a private stock lot. It is spendy at a $100 up front, and so much a month afterwards, but I don't have advertise, worry about being available for test drives, and I also don't have to worry about the paperwork. I just collect the check and head to the bank.

The lot is along the main drag, is fully lighted, and has 24hr security.

I tried that once, maybe 8 or 10 years ago. One of the guys there kept calling me and trying to talk me down on price. They would say someone had made such n such offer. They did sell it, but after running down the buyer and a little bit of investigation (was PD here until last sept) I found out they were trying to talk me down on price 4 days after the car was sold. I still think those lots are a good idea, but it wouldn't hurt to check them out before hand.

Can you clarify about "private stock lot"? I've never heard of this before. I still owe on the 98 Lariat, and I don't have the title with me. I plan to go to the local MVD and ask for paperwork such as bill of sale or something like that to do the initial transaction. Anything else I need to be aware of?
