Hey Flip, you can still have a carb and run upside down!!! Trust me, go with a "Predator" carb, no bowls, floats or anything fancy. Just raw fuel and air, they can be very picky to tune and you gas milage will go down the toilet but hey, that's the price we pay.
I believe Holly makes one also that can be run at all kinds of angles. Didn't mean to leave the impression that carbed motors can't rock crawl just that FI is easier and more reliable.
Well I just found a post in the 60's where a guy used a 67 power steering to do a conversion.. wouldn't you know it I just hauled a 67 to the yard during the last ice storm. So I am going to get the parts (the post had a list ) and see If I can do a swap. It took him and his brother 5 1/2 hours... so I am planning a whole weekend :-) Wish me luck... I am planning on starting on easter weekend.
Flip, We may go to Omaha on Easter sunday, but I might be able to come up on Sat. if you are going to start on it then if you want some inexperienced help.
Husker, I appriciate the help, but easter weekend we'll be in your neck of the woods - I conned the family to meeting in westmorland.... Say isn't that right next to tuttle creek? What a coincidence I need to get a new gearbox anyway.. the one I found is froze up. I have a line on a whole new doner truck... so it will be a month or 2.
