How far should I go?

Truck - 1993 Bronco
Intended Use - 2nd car/camping wheeler

I'm getting it painted and am doing as much prep as possible. Completely sanded, all plastics, lights, wheel wells, trim, rubber, front clip, windows have been removed. Since I'm changing colors, should I pull the doors and hood off too?

Would that buy me much in savings before taking it to a paint shop? Or would it actually hurt having separate pieces?

It's starting to warm up here in Idaho and I'm chomping at the bit to get this long overdue project done.

I would leave the doors and hood on. Transporting and rehanging could be a nightmare and you could damage the fresh paint. You are right though that they should be removed for a professional looking job.Painting under the hood and inside fenders and doors can be a bear when parts are on the vehicle

I removed the bumpers, hardtop, trim, doors and hood when I had my Bronco repainted. BUt I did have another truck to haul the items in the bed, with a blankie to protect the parts. I reinstalled the newly-painted items myself, too. I changed from a two-tone to montone color, but stayed with one of the original colors. At $60-80/hour for labor, anything you can do yourself will save money!!! Total cost for prep work (removing a few dozen hail dents) and paint was $1325.
