X Plan price?

How close is the Xplan price to the dealer invoice? I test drove the 05' F250 last week. The salesman couldn't quote the xplan price because their system was down and I haven't had the time to go back. He said it would knock about $4-5K off MSRP, but that doesn't tell me much because I don't know what the invoice is.

Thanks

BTW the MSRP was $46K

About $200 under invoice. It will likely be about $5500 off MSRP.

Looked back at my invoice for my truck F350 2004 plain jane CC-LB-FX4-PSD and here is what was listed:

MSRP - $39,464.55
Invoice - $33,214.64
X-Plan - $33,193.54
A & D Plan - $31,772.64

It looks like the x-plan will knock off $6000 from MSRP but I bet this differs from dealer. Ask for the invoice that shows all of the above. This is not inside the truck but usually kept inside the dealer with the truck folder. Hope this helps.

Wow! Thanks guys. The partnership program that my corporation has with Ford states that the dealer has to show the invoice. They are right next door to the company facilities and get a lot of business from us so I have no doubt they will play it straight for me. That's a great deal and it doesn't even include rebates! I just wish I didn't have to wait till the end of the year.

I get the X-plan at work. Who else in my family can get that price? What about A-plan? I know someone who gets A-plan pricing. He told me that he can get it for me too. Is he pulling my leg? If I can get A-plan pricing, I think I will be buying my truck sooner! Final question, Is A-plan a certain % lower than invoice?

X-Plan won't be differant at differant dealers. The price is set in stone by Ford. I just bought my new truck on the Xplan and all you have to do is ask to see the worksheet. They will show you a sheet that has the MSRP,INvoice and Xplan price on it. There is no haggling the price (legitly).

You comapny should have all the details, but for mine I can get two vehicles per year for anyone in my immediate family. There are stipulations, such as keeping the vehicle for at least six months and if there are any warranty issues you have to go to the Ford Dispute Resolution Board before you persue state lemon laws.

If you have an immediate family member that works for Ford than you can get the D-Plan. That was how I bought my truck. Well you saw the price above. But I also got 2500 off for D-Plan rebate and you get the extended warranty at the Ford employee price, almost half of what it usually cost. Now that I know this I will diffently be buying a new Decked out truck a few years down the road. PS I had to prove my eligible with birth certification form myself, brother, father and mother. That was the only hassle.

Well, here's some numbers for you to chew on.

I can get the X-plan from my workplace (we're a Ford partner). I got my X-plan pin, and then looked at 10 different F-250 and F-350 trucks (all MY 2005), in the XLT and Lariat configurations with various levels of options.

CAUTION, TRICKY MATH PART AHEAD!

I then did a curve fit to determine how to apply ratios to the cost of the base truck and the cost of the options. This generated a formula that you can use to predict the X-Plan cost of a truck. The formula is:

88.25% * MSRP of base vehicle + Invoice price of options + destination Charge = X-plan price

Example:

New F-350 Lariat has a MSRP Sticker price of $48,360.

MSRP OF basic vehicle is $37,695 (F-350, 4x4, 6-3/4 bed, lariat crew cab)
MSRP cost of options is $9,870
Invoice cost of options is $8,395
Destination charge is $795

X-Plan Price = 88.25% * $37,695 + $8,395 + $795
X-Plan Price = $42,456 +/- $100

The REAL X-Plan price should be within $100 of this estimated amount.

If you don't know the invoice price of the options, you can multiply the MSRP of the options by 85% to get a close approximation of the invoice cost. Same example, but pretend all I know is the MSRP of the options from the window sticker:

X-Plan Price = 88.25% * $37,695 + 85% * $9,870 + $795
X-Plan Price = $42,450 +/- $100

The reason for the difference in these two estimates is due to rounding of the dollar costs of the options as invoiced, versus at retail and reduced to 85%. Ford tends to round options up or down to the closest $5 at the MSRP price.

My best to you,

-Kevin
