Now THAT sounds like a high level blocking strategy that I somewhat believe
Just like a baseball team that has a great shortstop and doesn't need one...
when another great shortstop comes out they don't need him,
but still don't want the other team to have them - so they sign him
(or make sure he goes to the other division )
i am a 7.3 guy and i bought the stroker because like eveyrone else has stated that ford trucks are built tough and i haven't had any problem with mine and i got 136000 on it orig tranny and bone stoke onlye for alittle bit longer one thing u should look at is what are big construction companys using for pickups the ones in CT like Tilcon and O&G i would say every truck they own jsut about is a ford of some sort these are true work trucks
i like ford, please dont get me wrong, but when i came to this site, i am seeing alot of problems being posted wiht the ford powerstroke, that im not seeing at the chevy, dodge, sites, does ford just have some more work to do or is it just a couple of bad trucks in the group?
I wanted to start a new post on this very topic, but will just to reply to this one. I went to the Auto Club 500, this Sunday in Fontana California. As I was looking for parking (got there very early) I noticed two Ford Super Duty’s parked side by side. These were HUGE, lifted to the max (probably close the street legal limit). Huge tires, very, very clean looking trucks. One had chrome diff covers, 5" turbo back exhaust, chipped, racing suspension, etc, etc. The other was just as nice. One truck was a 03, 6.0 PSD , CC F-250. The other was 04, CC, F-350 SRW. I started talking to these guys and paying them complements on their trucks (both said I had a nice truck, even though its stock, made me feel good). After talking further, I asked if they ever had problems with their 6.0's. Both said no. I had to re-ask the guy with the 03, F-250 and asked if he ever had issues with re-flashes, rear oil seal leak, injectors etc, etc. He looked at me with a puzzle. The other guy with the 04 F-350 looked puzzled too. I went further to tell them about this web site.
Both guys never even heard about this web site. Both guy's never had any issues or even had to be taken back to the dealer. The 03, F-250 owner had a lot of mods and said, he had a small issue with a sensor after about 2 months of owning the truck, but that was two years ago and Ford replaced it for him. Both truck owners were from different parts of California, they just parked them together. The moral of this long post is. Not every Ford truck has issues. Most people come here to find questions, get problems solved and look for recommendations. Most Ford trucks do not have issues. I for one, have a 04, 6.0, engine build date 04-28-04, and had one sensor replaced. While my truck was there they replaced the reverse planetary gear on the tranny for me, though I did not have any issues with the tranny. Being that Ford sells more trucks (F-150 & Super Duty) than anyone else, if you took a 3% problem rate of all trucks sold (this is just an example) that is a lot of trucks. Even though I had those two issues with my trucks, I'm very happy with it and would not ever go to a Dodge or a Chevy, though the Dodge has a good Diesel, I don't care for the truck. Also, when you’re number one and more popular than anyone else, you are subject to more scrutiny (look at America)
I've worked at Cummins for 30 years, they are not owned by Ford. I have several shares of stock and attend the stockholders meetings, they are not represented, as far as I can tell. Years ago they did put the Cummins engine in some Fords and Chevies to at the Tech Center, that was purely engineering stuff. The engine had so much torque that it twisted the drive shafts off.Plus the frames were not strong enough. Cummins was working on a high speed diesiel with Ford years ago, but that feel through as well.
One of my mechanic customers came in the other day................we were discussing the old vs. new fords. Told me his boss wouldn't buy any new ford's--not that they didn't like them, just hadn't worn their 7.3's out yet. Said his boss was complaining about the alternator going out on his 01. I said how many miles??? He just kinda grinned and said...............................380K.
Blade07 a guy told me something that is very true, when you sell the number 0ne selling truck that out sells every company and out sells cars now, you will have more on the road and more recalls and problems. A guy at my work said to me that my f-150 has the most recalls on it and the other guy said of coarse it will have the most there is millions of them sold. I though that made the most sense just thought i would share that info.
