93 Aerostar Power window problem.

Ok heres situation. My drivers side window works fine no problems. The passenger side one doesnt work with either switch drivers side or pass side. Now I pulled the switch off the pass side and I can jump the wires to get the window to go up or down perfectly. I cant find a new pass side switch but found a drivers side one to see if that was it. Well put the new drivers side switch in (it has controlls for both windows) and it still doesnt work. Now do I need to have a working switch on the pass side for the drivers side controll to work or is that irelevenat? Im going to the local junkyards tomorrow to see if I cant find a new switch. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Was the NEW drivers side switch new or used? It could be faulty.

Or you could have a bad ground/wire in line.

Well, If you can jumper it and get it to go up and down then the motor works. I'd look for a broken wire between the driver's switch and passenger's switch. There is a rubber tube that runs between the door (both doors) and the door frame. That is where I found several broken wires on mine. The mirrors and windows didn't work when I got my 94.

You can have a bad passenger switch and still have the driver's switch work. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual is a little hard to follow but it does have the window wiring correct. That may help some.

Well the new switch was brand new so that probably isnt the problem. I am going to check for wiring problems tomorrow though since we just had a big snow storm. It has to be a wire if it works when hot wired and not by the switch on either side. Thanks for your help. Jay. (im getting sick of driving my Srt-4 in the winter it's no good lol)

I can guarantee that it is broken wires like tom foreman said. It will be a 99% chance that the wires in the rubber boot at the drivers door are the culprit. With some ingenuity and wire to splice into the cut ones, no more than the rubber boot at both ends and the kick panel need to be removed.
