No. Not only do they provide nothing for gains, but they also emit an annoying whirling noise from the air spinning through them. There are far better things to spend your money on, like beach front property in Oklahoma.
Throttle body spacers can give some (though not necessarily much) improvement on carbed or throttle body injected engines. They do absolutely nothing for multi-port injected engines, except make your wallet lighter.
I put a Poweraid spacer on my '01 F350 V10, and it made a noticeable improvement. Once the rpms get up there around 2500, it pulls alot harder then it used to up to about 4500-5000rpm. I also installed the Airaid cold air intake with it. I believe you need the whole system to see the most benefits... plus it's suppose to help your mileage as well. And... I kinda like the swoosh sound it makes, sounds like a turbo!!!
Well I'm going to get an echarger, when they're not turned on they swirl the air, and when they are on they throw extra air into your TB and everything.
Romer, have you done any close comparisons to your before and after power on that thing? Looking at it, I wonder how great it really is.
It only turns on at WOT. I suspect that they did this to ensure they wouldn't have ECU's get upset, being as the ECU is in a default mode at WOT and doesn't take any readings.
I wonder how it's disruption of the airflow the rest of the time affects power. It is certainly not helping airflow into the motor during normal ops.
It takes 57 Amps to run it. Which would figure out to be about 1 Hp. So, whatever gain you're getting, you're burning up 1Hp to get there.
I hope it works for you. When I read over their stuff, and discussed it with some other engineering types, I just wasn't real confident in it.
I have, I've researched it for over 12 hours. You wouldn't want it running all the time because it's either on or off. Its mainly for just a boost at WOT. It doesn't affect power by disrupting airflow, it does the same thing these throttle body spacers do. From what I read all over the place, it doesn't restrict airflow at all when not turned on.
Monty is working on one to make it where it's variable from the harder you press on the throttle. I doubt I'd do that, I would just install mine the way it is.
