the 9008 bulb is due out this summer (fits 2004+F150)
That is the first I have heard of the Silverstar coming out. Everything I have read says that they will not be making them. I hope you are right cause I am ready to make the switch.
just installed some Silverstars in my 01 F350. They look nice. I just hope they last longer than the 8 months I read about yesterday... Compared to stock headlights, they seem to have 1/2 the life or less...
Most of the stuff I have heard about APC bulbs are that they have a lot of color but you can't see much with them. I read an article not sure of the link where they tested several bulbs PIAA's being one of them and they were worse than stock when they tested them. I have heard nothing but good about the Silverstars. Most of the aftermarket bulbs seem to have a short lifespan. I have tried Eurolite Super Plasma's and Farenheit Super Whites. The Farehiets are bright white and are brighter and better than stock really white though not really much if any blue to them if you want the blue look these arnt for you. They are very good in bad weather and better than stock in good weather I would say about the same in bad weather. I would reccomend these. The Eurolite Super Plasma's I had for about 2 months before the low beams burnt out which in the car I had was a seperate bulb. I got another set under warrenty and the other side went out soon after that so I just replaced both sides since they had blown and thought maybe I got a bad set. Second ones had blown within 2 months again. The high beams have laster over 2 years though and still work *knock on wood*. The Eurolites are bright white and very bright and a lot brighter than stock a slight hint of blueish purple and really bright. I don't know that I would reccomend these as they kept buring out and it seems like others have had that problem also. I just ordered some Eurolite Xenon Crystals to test but haven't gotten them yet. A friend had the 80/100watt ones in her van which I don't reccomend as they will melt your wiring unless you upgrade it but hers were pretty blue and pretty bright and great in good weather but you couldn't see much in the rain or other bad weather. Hers lasted not quite a year. I'm going to give them a shot as I liked the color. I got the standard wattage bulb though as to not melt my wiring and I don't want to change it. She put Sylvania cool blues in after the Eurolites and didn't seem to like them she said they were yellowish more than blue and that they wern't as bright but were better in bad weather. I would check out the Farenheits unless you want a colored light then Eurolite Crystals or Fusion or Nokya bulbs. Luminicsbulbs.com also seems to have good bulbs from what I have read and they have Yellow, White, or Purple. Everyone on a Honda forum I visit seems to like them and they are a sponser so sent a few people free sets to be beta testers and they all seem to love them.
EuroLite Xenon are blue. I now installed a set of those. The things is, it's hard to see at night since....well, they're just tinted blue. lol. I guess if you want that 'cool' hid look, these are great for that.
Sylvania Cool Blue barely have a hint of blue, it's really not noticeable. From what I've read, Nokya bulbs are probably the bluest bulbs. APC Icy Blue headlights might match them.
Blue bulbs are only good IMO for clear weather and very dark nights. A lot of times, you can't even see the light if there is any fog. The Silverstar's are a little different though, as their glass is blue to cancel out the yellow light wave. My vote is for Silverstar's I've had mine over a year and they're still as bright as when I got them. I think I payed $45 for mine.
There are some bulbs I want to try, but they're around $95 for them. They're handmade in Japan and are hard to get a hold of, but they use some specific gas, and they're supposed to be very bright.
Which Eurolite Xenons did you try that were blue? There are Crystals, Super Plasma's, Fusions, and I think another one or two I can't think of right now.
