0 to 60 the gas will always win, but I'm looking for a chip for mine then I can tell you more about the 7.3.
I'VE OWNED BOTH THE V-10 WITH ALL THE GOODIES. CHIP , HEADERS. COLD AIR INTAKE, LARGER MASS AIR, LARGER THROTTLE BODY, AND AN 04 6.OL PSD WITH PROGRAMMER, COLD AIR, AND 4" EXHAUST. THE DIESEL WILL BLOW THE V-10 AWAY QUARTER MILE. BETTER TAKE OFF(THROW U BACK IN THE SEAT PERFORMANCE), BETTER PULLING POWER, AND BETTER FUEL ECONOMY. HELLO DIESELS..CE LA VI GASSERS
I havn't driven the new v10 but the 04 seemed a bit slow to rev and never felt like it was really trying. I went with an 05 deisel. It puts a big grin on my face every time I hit the gas --- oops oil

Cost wise if diesel stays at it's current price as we were told on the news last night, it would be cheeper in my opinion to run the gasser. Less cost for maintenance, less purchase cost, less fuel cost. Does the 6.0 REALLY pull the hills that much better? I don't know. As for the 1/4 mile, who cares? I didn't buy a race car, it is a truck right?
Had a 95 and 2000 PSD, great, no problems, good on fuel, had an 04 6 litre that was a sick litre , hard on fuel and the haul truck drivers that picked me up loved the 6.0 litre as it was great for their business. Have an 05 V10 now, decent on fuel, love it and don't plan on going back to diesels any time soon. Wrenchtraveller.
If the price of gas & diesel were closer together (like here in Houston), the diesel would be cheaper to own & operate over the V10, as calculated in my post on the thread
5.4 V8 vs 6.8 V10 in F250 recently.
However, using a gas price of $ 2.05 and diesel of $ 2.60, we find the diesel costing somewhat more per month:
V10 $ 664.27 monthly note + $ 15.50 per oil change + $ 343.33 fuel cost + $ 40.00 upcharge for resale = $ 1,063.10 per month
The diesel costs $ 65.38 more per month using these figures. (see old post)
My 6.0 is a daily driver in city traffic with no towing. I would guess that if I towed more often, the fuel milage of the V10 would drop more and the diesel would be more consistent, thereby edging the 6.0 into the lead again in cheaper monthly cost.
I have the 6.0 and love it. It is much better than any gas truck I have owned,( 1 chevy, one dodge, 5 Fords) Not one problem in 30,000 miles & 12 months.
I have noticed that most of the problems I have read about on this site come from trucks used in the extreme cold, and those that have some type of tuner or fuel box added.
My Comment About The 1/4 Mile Was In Reference To Whipline's Post That
"0-60 The Gasser Would Always Win", And Yes It Is A Truck, But Who Said U Couldnt Drag A Pickup, I See Alot Of Quarter Miles Times Posted Here On Fte. Ofcourse Most Are The Power Hungry Diesel Owners Like Myself!
t_j82, it is a truck, but don't forget the kid in us. beemr, I enjoyed your break down of costs even though my oil changes in a 7.3 are double yours. I've heard that the 6.0 is faster than the 7.3 maybe in 06 i'll find out for myself. I'm still looking for a chip any advice? Hey tiredlr what are you driving now? Yeti, when I win the lottery I give you a call. Whipline
Hi whipline....I used 6000 miles between changes, and bought the oil from Sam's. It cost $ 33.00 for 6 gallons, which equates to..........Damn!, Whip, you found a flaw in my math!!! My HP doesn't lie, but I guess I transposed the wrong number. It should have read $ 28.56 per oil change, which messes up my theory by about $ 14.81/month.
...I guess I'll have to turn in my 6.0 for the V10 now.

Thank you all for your input. I just bought a 2002 F350 Lariat, with the V10 engine and a Fisher plow . I won't be missing my VW Passat, which I reccomend everyone NEVER to buy.
