id have to say that my ream truck is a 1979 F350 Supercab Ranger... i want it to have a built 460 V8 have full time four wheel drive.. I think it would be sweet if it had a 6 inch suspension lift and 35's..... how hard are these to find and rebuilc... are there any downfalls to this tyope of truck
'79 supercab = rare
'79 4X4 supercab = even more rare
'79 F350 Ranger 4X4 supercab = good luck trying to fine one. (did Ford even build one?)
'79 4X4 of any kind or gvw with 460 was never built by Ford. You will have to swap one in.
Now for the positive side, if you ever find your dream truck, you will have one cool truck.
I am now working on the truck of my dreams
'79 F250 4X4 Supercab, swaped in 460, AC. (bought this truck for $300 4 years ago)
Adding leather bucket seats, power windows and door locks, cruise control, XM AM FM CD radio, 4"lift, aluminum wheels, LandL headers.
ok your dream truck is out there and you might as well settle for the f-250 like jimlj has above. the 79 f-350 4x4 supercab is an extremly rare truck. the cheapest i have found one for was $5500 and it was in need of a good overhauling. the average condition truck around here is among the $10K range upto $25,000. The only differences were the axles (f-250 usually had D44HD front, D60 rear) (f-350 had the D60 front and the Dana 70 rear) and the spring rates were different but thats about all. The truck you want was very limited production only hitting the 5,000 mark. in 78 the f-250 4x4 supercab only hit 10,028. so i would convert the 79 f-250 into a 350 and calling it good. hope this helps out.
good looking truck diesele75. i love them supercabs. i wish mine was one. there's a lot of things i would have liked to have with my truck but hey it's good enough for me. Your truck makes me jelous. i want a supercab 250 4x4 so bad i can taste it. Well almost. :P lol. i'm gonna start a build up of one in the next 5 years. gotta get mine right and finished first.
I just bought a 78 crewcab and then found a farmer that wants to part with his 79 F350 supercab 4x4. one owner and 53,000 original miles!! Needs paint but it is not too bad over all. I will probably need to find a new wife if I make a deal.
hahahaq take the truck ditch the wife lol i dunno when i will start building one. i have to find one first but its been a dream for a long time and it will happen any more the money part is not a problem i will find a way if i have to
I remember from my77 that the gas can sure pour through, but I wonder what the average is. I plan to use the 79 for a trip to town now and then, but that is only 20K one way and 45K to the city the other direction. I drove my 77 from the east coast of Can. to the North West Territory. The truck was fairly well loaded with stuff we got close to 20 mpg (can. gal.) sorry to ramble but does anyone have an estimate.KOKO Marshal
Thats funny scoarch. But very true, if I stomp on my pedal I can seriously see my fuel gauge needle change position. I thought that was just a myth. Sadly mistaken! Chad
