hey guys,
i have a problem on my 2000 F350 7.3L psd, when the truck gets driven for the first 5 or so minutes after cold start up, you can hear what i think sounds like turbo blow by up at the firewall,as soon as the engine warms up its gone...
if it were the waste gate it would be coninuous--- right?
has anybody had this problem?
i checked all the clamps and they seemed tight...
the truck is quite a ways from a ford dealership, so if anybody has any suggestions i would love to hear..
thanks
its around frezzing... when your accelerating you can feel the engine bogging down when the noise starts, it feels like the boost is just leaking out somewhere...
i have a few of these F 350 and no other truck has done this...its quite loud
My 1999 PSD is doing the exact same thing, when the motor warms up it stops. I was also told to check or change the ebv valve also, DUH, can some explain where this might be located. Or what it looks like?
That almost surely the EBV. The electrical connector for it is dwon at the base of the turbo. Won't take but a minute to unplg it and take it for a test drive to see if it's still doing it.

It can engage whle the vehicle is in operation if the right conditions are met, a quick stab of the throttle should disable it.
Exhaust Backpressure Valve. You can unplug the sensor on the front of the engine and it will go to the default mode. The valve will remain open. The sensor is in front of the high pressure pump and inboard of the A/C compressor.
