Most of the time it's fine, sometimes on long distances on the Interstate it will drop down quite a bit.

Dropping Oil Pressure is usually because of excessive clearances in the bearings. As the enging heats up the clearances increase.
I suspect that is the reason that the rear main seal continues to leak. The easy way to tell is to put plastigauge under the bearing caps, torque them to specs, remove the caps and read the plastigauge. Other than that you can mic the crank once it is out of the engine.
fordguy76 - I keep a pair of insulated pliers in my tool box just for that reason.
No, there was no sludge in the engine anywhere, oil looked clean. When you say to push on the rockers to see if they work, how hard do I push because I can push as hard as I can on any rocker but not one moves at all.
The pushrod I replaced is still straight after 'bout a 150 miles driving so that's a good sign.
Well, they all seem to work fine, guess I'll have to live with the knocking sound for now. Removing the spark plugs one by one while it's running, how does that tell me if the valves aren't right ?

That's a test to see if it is a Rod Bearing. When there is no combustion in the cylinder it takes the load off the bearing and it will quit rapping.
i dont know if you checked to see if you had any thing in yout cylinder because the same thing happened to me i was going up a hill not flooring it or anything and all od the sudden a loud knockins sound came from the motor. and on my way home it just stoped then the next day when i let my truck warm up after about a minut it cam back. i pulled my motor and found the the piston had cracked above the top ring grove and the metal was hammering around in the cylinder so it may be worth checking.
Where exactly are the cylinder head numbers located ? I looked on the side above the exhaust ports but don't see any numbers. Also, normaly there's a kickdown canble running from the carb to the tranny, mine has e steel yellow rod, was this standard in some models ?
