Wiper Arm Removal Question

This winter the wiper got stuck to the windshield on our 97 F-150 and the wiper arm got cranked too low. So it now only goes 3/4 of the way across the windshield. We thought it was just a simple matter of removing the nut on the arm and pulling the wiper arm off and putting it back on in the correct position but it doesn't seem to want to come off. Is there a trick to it or is this one really jammed?

I guess it might help to squirt it with some wd40 and let it soak a while, but yes, you have to pry it off. A thin peace of wood (so you don't damage the plastic) and a good nail pulling crow bar will do it.

I don't like to pry them off. I've seen too much damage done.
I use big water pump pliers, one jaw on the stud that the nut was on, the other under the arm and squeeze.
