I'm toying with replacing alot of my chrome goodies with blacked out pieces (like the sport & nite versions) following paint and I want to remove the stainless trim on the tailgate. From looking on the inside, it looks like there are alot of screws holding it on. Will these need to be patched or are there some sort of secret squirrel Ford dodads that hold it on? Thanks for any info.
There are a total of ten mounting locations for the brushed aluminum tailgate trim. Five across the top and five across the bottom. The center pair and the two ends are #10 threaded studs. The other four are snap-in clips. The holes in the tailgate are approximately 1/4-3/8" in diameter. They will need to be filled (body work) if you remove the trim panel.
