Anyone else see this? Jeep truck, 5'8" bed, solid axles front and rear, turbo diesel. What's the matter with FORD not doing this!! As much as I hate to say, if this thing's around when the Ranger dies, this may be the next step. Course, I could always just transplant the Bronco drivetrain into the Ranger, but still! Just nice to see that one of the big automakers keeps serious off-roading capabilities at the top of it's list for a vehicle or two...
yeah i agree with ya i cant stand how all these trucks now adays have ifs. but at least the super duty has a solid front end. chevy doesnt even do that for their heavy duty trucks! but that jeep does look pretty cool.
did you see their hurricane? that looks like one sweet jeep. too bad they'll never build it and if they did it sure as hell wouldnt have two hemis!
Very true. I just hate how DC is capitalizing and depending on the HEMI name to sell stuff. Nearly every manufacturer today that utilizes a >2 valve overhead cam uses the 'hemi' concept. Mazda engines were doing that back in the 80's.
That Hurricane IS way cool...
i think they are both a step in the right direction but i am a firm believer in building your own truck. i live by the quote "it's not what you buy it's what you bulild" -unknown-
Well, the EB was the first 4x to come from the factory with a good V8 (302) and decent axles at least when they put the D44 up front and the 9 out back. Now the a-holes do it in the Rubercon etc and call it new tech.

I believe the factory air actuated lockers is what they are referring to in that situation.....
I don't know about the FX4 Ranger thing myself. I've got one, and although I love, there are a few things that it leaves to be desired. E-lockers, and a solid axle up front is about it, really. The LS in the back is good, but I have problems getting them both to spin sometimes. I've got the 5-speed, so I get an actual LEVER for my TC shifter.
Put swampers on that, think how impossible thta thing would be to stop. You would seldomly get stuck. The only thing it really could come down to is the quality of parts and how much you value your interior. I want that car.
Seriously pro. A few years ago, I remember all those future space-age looking concept cars and trucks. I was 10-14 and I wanted to gag myself...Glad a lot of concepts dont make it...but this is one concept that I want to see on the road.
I don't like how plastic like it looks, too much like the H2. . . needs to be a bit more angular like the original. Some ::real:: bumpers, and body tone external hinges. I'm not digging the chrome. Also need to ditch the whole extending bed idea, don't like it on the avalanche and i'm not liking it here.
Besides that yeah, I'm REALLY liking it. Any word on what axles it's supposed to see? It'd be awesome if it comes with a 44 front (RC would be a major plus, so would real hubs, but we're talking jeep here) and a 60ish rear.
Even if they didn't change the stuff I don't like it'd still be an awesome rig. Hopefully they roll with it so I can get one used in about 5-7 years. . . Imagine that thing with some trail damage and covered in dirt. Also one helluva candidate for a fullsize drivetrain.
