There is a post somewhere in this forum that has the part number and a website link to a company that has them. The name of this valve is crankcase depression relief valve and the cost was right around 40 bucks. I'm at work but when i get achance i'll see if i can find the info for you from the one i got from them a couple weeks ago.
I've never seen one go bad. Is there something wrong with yours?
Ford is the only true source. I dont believe IH used a CDR
many peeps have gotten away from the CDR and are running a road draft tube(as do most heavy diesels). Some use a weed sprayer filter to recover some of the oil contained in the crankcase vapor
Anyone that owns a Ford (or any other diesel) needs to book mark this site. This outfit knows more about diesels than anyone I've ever ran across. They have parts substantially cheaper than Ford and one can call there and talk to Diesel Dan and get the answer to almost any question. They also have a newsletter published bi-monthly and I'd suggest for new diesel owners to get that for about 3 years at least. I've been getting it for about 10 or 11 years. Hope this helps on where to and how to. They are out of E. Babylon NY. Great outfit .
Bought mine from the local dealership that sells mostly trucks for about 25.00. Yes, they do go bad. There's a rubber diafram (sp) inside the CDR that disentegrates over time. If you find pieces of rubber on the back of the intake that's a sure sign.
After I cleaned my cdr w/parts cleaner spray. I put a shop vac on the side that attaches to the intake w/suction it closed (no longer pulled through the engine attachment side). Might be an easy way to check them..

If you take off your air cleaner, the cdr valve is the can-like thing the attaches to the intake manifold throat where the air cleaner sits. it is towards the rear of the engine and is attached by 2 bolts to the intake throat and has a tube out the bottom that goes into a rubber hose.
I found if I put a little of my girlfriends water soluble lubricant that is safe for rubber on the cdr tube, it slid into the hose much easier when I reinstalled it.
Why couldnt you just unhook it from the intake and run a hose down below somewhere like they do on semi trucks? I dont see how running that crap into your intake helps your motor any.
I unhooked the cdr valve and ran a hose underneath the truck. Seems to work fine, but I have a few questions. First, is there going to be much oil lost through the hose? With the cdr valve on, there was all sorts of oil that was going into my intake, which is why I wanted to unhook it anyway. Also, I used a piece of garden hose maybe 4 feet long, and clamped it on with a hose clamp. If anyone knows any problems I might have, or a better way to connect the whole thing, lemme know. Thanks, Jeff
