I checked my LMC catalog and it only shows the "hi-output" under the "without A/C" parts list. The "with A/C" shows a totally different part #. I am guessing that the standard and Hi-output can't be much different since they are the same price, but the picture doesn't show.
You can but you have to change the entire heater assembly as the heater cores are larger on the "super Heaters" and so other minor things to accomdate it, or you can upgrade to a 195 degree t-stat (which i have, but my heater is a low-output one, but the high t-stat will cook me out of the truck on even the coldest of days).

the standard heater core is 6 inches wide finally got around to changing it today. my core measures approx 7 by 8 inches. the case doesnt say super heat. local az has only the stock non super core, they measure it and tell me its 7 by 8 inches. so i buy it and its exact match. so the stock core size is not 6 inches wide but 7 1/2.
That could be, I guess it is time to start fixing those heater cores that have been bypassed since spring, I was going by a ford parts catalog but they arent perfect especially on some of the older stuff. thanks for the info, you really pulled a thread out of the spider webs here!
The High Output heater setup is a direct bolt on if you have a standard heater. Adding a Comfort Vent heater(has dash vents and vacuum controls like an A/C unit,) or A/C is not a bolt on swap and requires wiring changes, and cutting new holes in the firewall, along with changing the entire dash... I just did it when I planted my 81 cab on an 86 diesel chassis.....
