With all the problems with cop's, has anyone ever converted over to multiple coil packs, or something else. Just picked up a 2002 Expy, and have been around these Expy's since 2000, so I'm pretty familiar with some of the major issues. I'm also familiar with DFI systems. So, this has me thinking about checking into alternatives. Sure you would have to change the wiring, and add Spark Plug wires, but it seems like you could do a 4 cylinder bank on the one side, and a 4 cylinder bank on the other and maybe have a more dependable ignition system.
The PCM, wiring harness and such must be changed. I would just keep the COP's, It wouldn't be worth the cost and time to redo the whole wiring harness.
At first I was thinking you could take the primary from one of the COPs of a waste spark pair and use that, but then I remembered that the COPs don't take the primary grounding signal, they just take a trigger and have the primary generated internally. You're right.
