Hi. How do I remove the front calipers on my 1985 f100? I'm new to ford trucks (and even newer to brakes) so excuse the "newbie" question. I can see what looks like a locking pin on the back of the caliper, do i remove it. I am attempting to put a caliper service kit in my brakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Not sure if yours is like mine, but if it has a single bolt holding the pin in place, remove the bolt and drive the pin out towards the engine with a drift/punch/screwdriver, etc... The caliper should come free at that point (you might have to depress the piston into the caliper a little...). Pretty easy. Post again if you have further questions.
Curiosity....what does the "caliper service kit" contain and what (if any) problems have you been having?

thanks rhodie. I ended up getting the caliper off about 10 minutes after i posted. I was having problem with caliper locking up (I bleeded system 6 times) , out of pure frustration i totally dismantled the caliper, there was a heap of "gunk" in behind piston which i flushed out with air nozzle, problem fixed, i think. From what i've read on these forums, the brakes on these aussie f100's are different from what you guys have. The caliper service kit contained rubber dust boot, and inner seal- cost= 25 aussie dollars, probably about 4 bucks over there!
