what's the max. bore you can take a 300-6 to before it's time to send it in for a re-sleeve?? my spare is a remanned motor that was taken to .020 over, and it's got some rust in the cyl's, so i'm hoping that it'll clean up around .030....
.030 should be fine but thats all id take er out to. these have a semi thin wall and i dont personally like the idea of taking them out further. im sure u can get .060 from one but that is insane...
The "wisdom of the sages" (not ME) is to ONLY bore what it takes. Mine is at .060, only because it was already at .040. I'm pushing 50K on this rebuild, with NO problems.
i figger that i'll have'em take it to .030, and if it don't need anything else, i'll leave it at that....have my block zero decked, have the head checked out and milled .010 along with a mild port and polish and a three angle valve job....oh ya...and have the crank checked out, too, so that if it needs anything, i can have that done, as well...
If I remember rightly my 300 I-6 is bored .060 over & is now a 308 or 312, which along w/ a few other upgrades she now puts out 400 FPT, 300 HP w/ a 10:1 CR.
Insane, no I do not believe so.
Cheers
