Need some help. I have a 1996 powerstroke that misses so badly the truck shudders under acceleration. Truck has a new fuel filter. Verified all injectors are receiving a fire command. Thoughts?
truck has a manuel trans. Miss is noticeable under no load. Shudder diminishes at 2500 rpm under load. truck is way down on power/acceleration. Thought about the daul mass flywheel but not sure how to verify.
Cam sensor is a possibility. Are you getting a CEL(check engine light). Have the codes pulled see what secrets your computer has. I'd would lean away from it being the DMF where your low on power. Another possibility is a burnt valve cover harness.
Not getting a CEL. I'm starting to lean to the harness however. For a minute I thought the Banks chip was haywire. Pulled it but problem persists. Will try to get my hands on a code reader tomorrow. If I'm lucky I'll get a reader that allows turning off injector commands one cylinder at a time.
You may try to disconnect the valve cover harnesses with the engine running, one at a time. That will kill two cylinders at a time though. Just see which connector make the least difference in how the truck runs.
