Suspension

I have a 94 with a 5.0 auto. The suspension is stock. The hanger (I think thats what its called) that the rear passenger leaf spring attaches to needs to be replaced. The problem is, its rivoted to the frame. To get it off I am assuming you just drill out the rivots. Any one no what size drill bit? Does the new part have to be rivoted back on? Can I just use some heavy duty bolts and maybe weld it? If it does have to be rivoted who can do that and how much do you think it will run?

Thanks for any help in advance,
Will

Most shops air chisle the rivets out and replace with bolts. Welding or re-riveting wont be neccesary. Drilling or torching rivet heads off would be another alternative but not sure what size drill.

Just use a grinder to grind the head off and the a punch to knock the rivit out of the hole. Go back with a grade8 bolt and a Nylok nut and you will be in business. Be sure the bolt fits snug in the hole. I would enlarge the hole if needed to get as tight a fit as is reasonable for the bolt. Good luck.
