Done gone splashing

Today we had a very heavy thunder storm here and I took my truck out during a pause in the storm to see what the damage had been so far around my neighborhood. A few streets over from mine there was a gigantic puddle that went from one side of the road to the other and was about 8 or 10 inches deep and about 50 feet long. And im a creative person and i decided instead of renting a pressure washer next weekend to spray the mud out from under my truck i just might have some fun with this puddle instead. So i got a decent running start and got to about 30mph and hit that puddle with a splash. Well i cleaned my undercarraige as well as my engine and the entire body of my truck. I did this about 5 or 6 times and i got my truck clean as a wistle. Now is that bad for my electrical system or anything? I know water can get into your oil so im going to get that changed tomorrow. Is there anything i should check now that i took my truck swimming?

Oh for the record a 97 F-150 4x4 will make a splash about 30 feet out from the truck, about 25 feet high and a 2 foot wave in a puddle only 8 inches deep just in case anyone was wondering...

I'd be very hypocretical to give you hell for that, cuz its stupid, but I can't say anything, I've done it before. And ruined the engine in my truck. You can suck water through the intake, and before you can say "Holy Tidal Wave Batman" you're sitting dead it the water. Literally.

I love these threads! Umm...yea. You might consider changing the fluids on the axles, front and back (they're vented- definitely not waterproof). Might check the tranny and the transfer case too. It might be cheaper next time to just buy the pressure-washer.

The same thing happens under your truck, too.
